Hello and Welcome to the Home Page of LondonBobbies.com This site is best viewed at 1024 X 768 using This site has no connection to the Metropolitan Police Service and it is an unofficial website who's object is solely to assist and inform collectors of Police Memorabilia.
This site is intended to help out the "Newbie" Collector and to help dispel a few myths and fantasies about British Bobbies and their uniforms. A sort of "Dummies Guide " to British Bobbies Helmets. I decided, with the assistance and advice of some other very experienced collectors, to do this as a result of seeing some of the so called "Genuine" Items we have seen for Sale on the Internet. which are clearly made up from parts by unscrupulous sellers and traders. Despite mailing them to inform them of their errors they still tried to sell these "items" to unsuspecting collectors. This site, will by necessity be constantly under construction as I update or add more information. Due to the nature of the hobby I have had to include lots of pictures which will increase the download time (sorry, but it is worth the wait). My colleagues and I collect most sorts of Police Memorabilia and sell some items to help fund our hobby. I personally have been collecting Police Memorabilia on and off for 25 years. Please feel free to look around, I always welcome advice and help. This site is the place where you will learn a little about London Bobbies, and the difference between the Metropolitan Police of New Scotland Yard, and the City of London Police for instance. Also about the types of Helmets worn by different forces, summer and winter, Roses and Rosettes, Batwings and Cockscombs, Ball Tops and Prussians. What helmets were made from Fur and those from Straw or Cork and why officers wear reinforced helmets, as well as the importance of Police Memorabilia and Police collectables as a part of our cultural history no matter where you are from. I have had several enquiries regarding joining the Metropolitan Police Service. If you want to know more about the Metropolitan Police, and how to join, please click on the link below and you will be taken to the Official Metropolitan Police Service Recruitment site, where you can submit an application on line.
